How to Download Your Own YouTube Videos
The official ways to get your uploads back, and when to use a downloader.
YouTube's terms say videos should be watched on YouTube unless the platform offers a download option. For your own uploads, it does.
YouTube Studio (your channel)
- Open YouTube Studio → Content.
- Hover over the video, click the ⋮ Options menu and choose Download.
- You get an MP4 of your upload.
Offline viewing
To watch other people's videos offline, use the Download button in the YouTube app (available with YouTube Premium in most countries).

For videos you have the rights to — your own, Creative Commons, or with the creator's permission — paste the link and pick a quality.
